Marchell Reilly and Richard Swales picked up the Best Overall Garden Award, pictured with Dunleer Tidy Towns Chairman Edmund Mathews
The 2025 Dunleer Community Awards Night has taken place at the Climate Change Centre at the Market House.
The awards were presented by councillors for the Ardee Municipal District, Cllrs. Bernie Conlon, Pearse McGeough and Dolores Minougue. They each paid tribute to to all the winners for their contributions to Dunleer.
The awards night was put on by Dunleer Tidy Towns, chaired by Edmund Mathews.
There were 18 awards handed out in total which included 10 wooden plaques presented to the best garden in each estate:
1. Beechwood Drive - Tony Corrigan
2. School Lane – Helen Corrigan
3. Rivervale Estate – Anne Moore
4. Ravel Grange - Derek Connolly
5. Shamrock Grove - Edel Shiels
6. Dundalk Road / Drumcar Road – Declan and Rosaleen McKeown
7. Woodgrove Heights- Brenda Tiernan
8. Mountain View – Jim and Theresa Kenwright
9. Barn Road / Maryville - Marchell Reilly and Richard Swales
10. Church View - Anna Murloy

The award for Best Overall Garden went to Marchell Reilly and Richard Swales of the Barn Road, who were presented with a trophy and perpetual cup.
While Garry Kelly of Drumcar Road scooped the Special Merit Garden Award. There was also a special award for Francie Marry, Ita King and Margaret McConneran.
David Doyle of Monasterboice, and Paul Dempsey from Dunleer were presented with trophies for their commitment, they each pick litter in Dunleer every week.
Finally, Volunteer of the Year went to Dunleer Tidy Towns Chairman Edmund Mathews.
