Man arrested in connection with a fatal traffic collision in Louth

Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with their investigation into a fatal two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a van and a motorcycle in Drogheda.

The collision happened at James Street in Drogheda on 29th August 2025.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was pronounced deceased on Sunday, 31st August 2025.

A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested today and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station in the Garda North Western Region.

Gardai said investigations are ongoing.
