Go ahead given to convert famous Louth pub into housing
Louth County Council has given the go ahead for the redevelopment of the former McManus' pub in Seatown, Dundalk, into housing and retail.
Clare Gaelic Retail Holdings Limited applied for planning permission in June of this year for the development at 13-17 Seatown, seeking the go ahead for the change of use of the existing premises, from public house with associated first floor accommodation, to four, two storey townhouses; a first floor studio apartment, all with own door access; and a ground floor commercial unit.
The application provides for associated rear gardens, landscaping, fence enclosures, storage sheds, cycles spaces, drainage and private open spaces.
The plans include modifications to the building, the existing height which is two storeys, and include minor demolitions as part of the works; alterations to include single storey rear extension for the townhouses; new rear facing rooflights and minor alterations to the main facades facing Seatown and Mary Street North.

Louth County Council granted planning permission for the development on 7 November, subject to 13 planning conditions. Included in the conditions, Louth County Council said that the proposed retail unit shall not be used as a fast food take away establishment, in the interests of protecting residential amenity, and that its opening hours shall not exceed 7am to 10pm
