Funding announced for outdoor swimming facilities in Louth
Funding has been allocated for the purchase and installation of three movable double beach changing cabins at three beaches in Louth, it was announced on Monday by Minister for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy Jennifer Murnane O’Connor TD.
The funding, part of a €330,000 Healthy Ireland fund for outdoor swimming facilities, aims to make Louth's approved outdoor swimming locations more accessible, enabling more people to enjoy the health benefits of outdoor swimming.
Louth has been allocated €20,000 for the purchase and installation of three movable double beach changing cabins at Clogherhead, Port, and Shelling Hill/Templetown beaches.
News of the funding was welcomed by Louth Fine Gael TD, Paula Butterly, who said, “we are so lucky to have facilities like these at Clogherhead and Templetown, and this funding will allow people to reap the rewards of all the benefits associated.”

“I have been a strong advocate for improving amenities at our blue flag beaches here in Louth, and this funding will help to improve the experience for beachgoers throughout the constituency, encouraging new participants both young and old to stay active and swim regularly.”
“This is a smart investment in public health infrastructure in Louth. Fine Gael has shown a commitment to supporting and empowering local authorities and sports partnerships. This funding will ensure that more people, regardless of age or ability can safety enjoy Louth natural waters.”
