Dundalk Chamber of Commerce is launching a “Shop Local Christmas Window Competition” for all local businesses who have a Christmas window. The competition is designed to encourage Christmas spirit, attract shoppers into town, and tie in with Dundalk’s Frostivsal parade to help make Dundalk an even more exciting place this Christmas.

John McGahon, CEO of Dundalk Chamber of Commerce, said: “Each year, Dundalk’s shopfronts and streets play a key role in creating that special Christmas atmosphere which makes the town such a welcoming and enjoyable place to visit.

"Through this competition, the Chamber aims to shine a spotlight on local businesses, boost footfall, and remind shoppers to support Dundalk business for all their festive needs."

The competition is being sponsored by Michael Lavelle Estate Agents, who according to Joanne Lavelle, were keen to support and promote local business.

“We’re proud to sponsor this year’s Shop Local Christmas Window Competition. It’s about celebrating creativity, community, and the people behind Dundalk’s local businesses. Every decorated window helps make the town brighter and reminds us what makes Dundalk such a special place to live and shop.”

The competition is open to all businesses across Dundalk town, with three dedicated categories:

  • Retail
  • Charity Shop
  • Café / Bar / Restaurant

Dundalk Chamber staff will visit businesses in the coming weeks to invite participation, delivering entry forms directly to premises that display Christmas-themed windows or decorations. The Chamber’s goal is to make participation as easy as possible during the busy festive season, recognising and celebrating every effort made to bring Christmas to life on our streets.

Applications open on November 1st and the deadline for entry coincides with the Frostival Festival of Light Parade on Sunday, November 16th.

Judging will take place between November 17th and 22nd, with winners announced on Sunday 23 November.
