The Fairways Hotel played host to the 2025 Louth Looking Good Awards where Tidy Towns groups and residents associations from across the county were honoured for their tireless commitment to creating cleaner, greener and more sustainable communities in Louth.
Fresh from their success at the National Tidy Towns Awards in Dublin, Dromiskin Tidy Towns continued their winning streak being named the Overall Winner of Louth Looking Good 2025. The group also took home the Waste Minimisation, Climate Action and Youth Special Awards and were runners up in both the Biodiversity and Seasonal Displays Special Awards.
The coastal village of Blackrock was Runner Up, with the judges praising the group’s lasting impact on the county’s Tidy Towns programme and wishing the committee well as they prepare to represent Ireland in Entente Florale 2026.
Tallanstown was placed third adding to their long list of local, national and international achievements.
Monasterboice received the Adjudicators Award, as well as wins in the Biodiversity Special Award and Graveyard Category and being placed third in the Climate Action Award.
There was little surprise when Omeath was announced as the Most Improved centre this year while also being placed second in the Waste Minimisation Awards and coming in third in the Biodiversity Special Awards.
The icing on the cake for the north Louth village was when committee Chairman Gus Brennan was named County Louth Environmentalist of the Year, with Mary Mc Donnell from Louth Village the deserved runner up in this prestigious award.
In the Housing Estate categories Church View in Dromiskin claimed the accolade of Best Overall Housing Estate with Glyde Road Cottages Tallanstown, St Oliver’s Park Carlingford, Cherrywood Park Tallanstown and Clos na Manach Carlingford winning their respective categories.
The success of the Louth Looking Good initiative is built on strong collaboration between the network of Tidy Towns groups Louth Tidy Towns Together and Louth County Council as well as loyal and generous sponsors - a partnership that continues to deliver outstanding results.
Addressing the event the First Citizen of County Louth, Councillor Sean Kelly, expressed heartfelt thanks to every single volunteer for their continuous dedication to presenting our towns and villages to the highest possible standard.
He acknowledged that such extensive work would not be possible without the community partnership that underpins the county’s achievements.
Chief Executive of Louth County Council, David Conway, attending his first Louth Looking Good Awards, echoed those sentiments and praised all involved, highlighting Louth’s impressive performance in this year’s National Tidy Towns Competition - securing eight medals, a Regional Special Award as well as a National Special Award.
Mr Conway reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to working hand in hand with community groups to continue this success.
Lead sponsor of the 2025 campaign, Dundalk Credit Union, was represented on the night by Naomi O Donoghue, Head of Sales and Business Development and her colleague Rebecca O Hare.

Speaking personally, and on behalf of the Board of Directors and Management Team, Naomi said that Dundalk Credit Union was proud to support an initiative that celebrates those making a difference in their local communities.
Naomi also noted that volunteerism lies at the very heart of the Credit Union ethos.
Appreciation was also extended to the Special Awards sponsors Drogheda Credit Union, Greenore Port, V & W Recycling, Glassco Recycling, O’Neill’s Flowers and FESP along with the fourteen County Councillors who contributed generously to the prize fund.
As another successful Awards Season concludes attention now turns to 2026 - a year that promises continued collaboration, community pride and hard work to ensure that Louth is Looking Good!
