Public warned of road closures in Louth this Bank Holiday weekend

The closures will be in effect from 5.45pm to 9.45pm on October 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2025, to allow for safe pedestrian access and event activities during the festival.

Louth County Council has announced a series of temporary road closures in Drogheda to facilitate this year’s Lú Festival of Light, taking place later this month.

The affected streets include:

  • West Street and Wellington Quay

  • Fr Connolly Way

  • St Laurence Street

  • Palace Street

  • West St (R900) from its junction with Fr Connolly Way (L-77008) to its junction with St Peter's St (L-1674) / Shop St (R900)

  • St Laurence St (L-1671) from its junction with St Peter's St (L-1674) / Shop St (R900) to its junction with Palace St (L-16711)

  • Palace St from its junction with St Laurence St (L-1671) to its junction with William St (L-16741)

The closures will be in effect from 5.45pm to 9.45pm on October 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2025, to allow for safe pedestrian access and event activities during the festival.

Diversions will be clearly signposted and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

The Lú Festival of Light is expected to attract large crowds to Drogheda’s town centre, bringing an illuminated celebration of art, music, and culture to the historic streets.
