Polio Survivors Ireland is reaching out to the community in County Louth with plans to establish a new Social Support Group for polio survivors in the Dundalk area.
To facilitate this important initiative and connect with local members, the organisation will host an Open Day on Tuesday, October 21st, from 2pm to 4pm.
The Open Day will take place in the Community Rooms at the Longwalk Shopping Centre, Dundalk (located beside the entrance from the main car park). The room is fully accessible, and disability access toilets are available within the shopping centre.
The event is open to those affected by polio, their family members, friends, carers, and anyone interested in learning more about Polio Survivors Ireland and the supports they offer.
The primary aim of the Open Day is to set up a Social Support Group for polio survivors in Dundalk. If successful, the group will meet regularly throughout the year for social activities, information sharing, and essential peer support.
Polio Survivors Ireland is the only organisation in Ireland dedicated to providing practical support and a listening ear to people who had polio and are now living with Post Polio Syndrome or Late Effects of Polio.
With over 1,000 members, they work to ensure survivors get the proper support, services, and information necessary to maintain their independence and dignity.
