There was fall in the number of people who signed on the Live Register in Louth in September compared to August according to the latest data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
In Dundalk, 3,167 people signed on this Live Register in September 2025. It is down from 3,364 in August, but also down from 3,368 in September 2024 representing a fall of almost 6%.
655 people signed on in Ardee in September, down from 686 in August and also down from 693 in September 2024, representing a fall of 5.5%.
Drogheda also saw a monthly fall in the number of people signing on the Live Register, with 3,191 signing on in September compared to 3,399 in August. On an annual basis however, it is up by 137 on the 3,054 who signed on in September 2024, representing a rise of 4.5%.
Nationally, the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for September 2025 was 169,300 people, up by 100 people from August 2025. The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 165,243 people for September 2025, of which 55.8% were male and 71.5% were Irish.
The counties that recorded the largest percentage increases in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to September 2025 were Dublin (+9.6%) and Kildare (+5.6%), while the largest decreases were in Galway (-6.1%) and Monaghan (-5.7%).
The 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in September 2025 at 39,838 people or 24.1% of the total.
In September 2025, there were 110,672 people on the Live Register for less than one year, which was 5,769 more people (+5.5%) than in September 2024.
