Roadworks completed at the Bush School junction on the Cooley Peninsula are not up to standard according to Sinn Fein Councillor Antóin Watters.
Speaking at the August meeting of Dundalk Municipal District held on Tuesday evening, Councillor Watters said: “The way the road was done at the Bush School junction was very bad in my opinion.
“It’s nearly worse now than it was before. I've asked the council to look at it but I’m wondering what checks do we put in place, and what can we do? We shouldn’t be letting it go without it being okayed. What tests are done to make sure the works that are done are suitable for traffic?
Executive Engineer with the council Patrick Callan agreed that “that road isn’t to the standard we would wish for” but that they had the contractor back on site and did carry out a rolling straight edge test which tests the condition of the road surface and it did pass.
“We take it on board but unfortunately there’s not a lot we can do at present. But again going forward we 100% agree that we need to look at quality,” he said
