Louth councillor slams 'repeated bursts and outages' in Ardee water supply
Louth councillor, Ardee and mid-Louth representative, Cllr Dolores Minogue has called on Uisce Éireann to "step up, take responsibility, and deliver lasting solutions", in relation to water outages in the Ardee area.
In comments to the Dundalk Democrat, the Fine Gael councillor said that "as a local councillor, I want to express my full support for the residents of Cherrybrook and the surrounding areas who are rightly frustrated with the ongoing and constant breakdown of water pipes in Ardee and beyond."
Cllr Minogue continued, "week after week, we are witnessing repeated bursts and outages. Each time, families, businesses, and the wider community are left to suffer the consequences — without the most basic of essentials: a reliable supply of clean running water. This is not just an inconvenience; it is a disruption to daily life and, more importantly, a failure to provide what is a basic human right.
"I share the anger and disappointment of the people I represent. Residents pay their taxes and, in return, they deserve the fundamental service of a functioning water system. Instead, what we are experiencing is ongoing waste, needless disruption, and an unacceptable standard of service."
Cllr Minogue added, "it is now time for Uisce Éireann to step up, take responsibility, and deliver lasting solutions. Quick fixes are no longer enough. Our community cannot continue to endure this cycle of breakdowns. We expect, and we demand, clean water with minimal waste — as is our right. Enough is enough."
