“We were expecting 25 people to arrive and only ordered a small cake", said Linda Stevens, Chairperson of Dundalk Women’s Shed, "but women just crowded through the door from 10 am and soon we had 60 people chatting, laughing, and hugging each other glad to be together again. We had to send for more cake!”
The pop up coffee morning was to create awareness of Dundalk Women’s Shed and to launch the new September programme.
It begins on 6th and 7th September when members and the public are invited to join the Council of European Grandmothers and Elders, who are holding their annual meeting in Dundalk this year, hosted by Irish representative Elder, Mary Anne Gosling, who has organised the meeting assisted by ‘Friends’ who are also members of the Shed.
Up to 40 members of the Shed have signed up to attend the events on Saturday 6th and 7th Sunday which will explore the concept of Oneness and how we can share our earth.
The Council said its objective is to pass on the wisdom of older people to help younger people live happier and more resilient lives. They would like young people over 16 to come and talk with them at the public events on 6th and 7th September.
