Market Explorer Grant can help with market research, consultancy, trade fairs and other activities that will help local businesses expand

LEO Louth announces new grant to help local businesses

Niall Gallagher of Local Enterprise Office Louth and Dónal Geraghty of SeaPark Consultancy urge local businesses to use the Market Explorer Grant to enter new international markets

“With ongoing changes in tariffs and market conditions, now is the time for local businesses to explore new markets — and our Market Explorer Grant can really help,” says Niall Gallagher, Senior Enterprise Development Officer with Louth’s Local Enterprise Office.

The Market Explorer Grant offers funding and advice to help businesses research new opportunities, meet potential buyers, and plan their entry into international markets.

Niall explains: “Breaking into new markets can feel daunting. Where do you start? Which markets are looking for your product? How do you find new customers? What do you need to know about trading and regulations in new locations? This grant helps you move past the questions and into the opportunities.”

CEO of award-winning local business SeaPark Consultancy, Dónal Geraghty explains: “This kind of support enabled SeaPark to attend trade events in the UK and Germany, providing exposure not only to potential new clients but also to partners.

"The opportunity has helped us expand our reach and establish a global portfolio of clients and partners including Coca-Cola, Burberry and Capgemini. To local businesses considering expanding into new markets, I’d recommend talking to LEO Louth about the Market Explorer Grant.”

The grant is open to small businesses in manufacturing or eligible internationally traded services that have been trading for at least 12 months. It can cover costs such as market research, consultancy, trade fairs, travel, and meeting potential clients. Funding is available for up to 50% of eligible costs to a maximum of €10,000, with the business contributing the balance.

Niall continues “For some businesses, trade uncertainty means looking at new markets. The Market Explorer Grant can help local companies refine their approach and find new opportunities both in new markets for existing products, or existing markets for new products.”

“It’s all about building resilience,” he adds. “If one market becomes difficult, having others to trade in keeps your business steady and gives you room to grow. This grant gives local businesses the confidence and resources to make that leap.”

Niall concludes: “If you’re ready to explore new opportunities and grow your business, this is the time to act. Applications for the Market Explorer Grant are open and assessed on a rolling basis — visit our website or call the Local Enterprise Office on 042 933 5457 to get started.”
