There was a significant monthly increase in July in the number of people signing on the Live Register in Louth, according to the latest figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
Overall in Louth, 7,877 people signed on in July, up 517 or 7% on June. It is down by eight however, on the 7,885 who signed on in the county in July 2024.
Looking at the individual social welfare offices in Louth, 3,531 people signed on in Dundalk in July 2025, up 195 on the 3,336 who signed on in June, but down on the 3,562 who signed on in the town in July of last year.
In Ardee, 769 people signed on in July, up 19 on the 750 people who signed on in June, but down 58 on the 827 who signed on in the town in July 2025.
Drogheda saw the biggest increase in the number of people signing on in July, with 3,577 signing on, up 303 on the 3,274 who signed on in June, and also up 81 on the 3,496 who signed on in July of last year.
Nationally, thee seasonally adjusted Live Register total for July 2025 was 169,600 people, up by 1,100 people or 0.7% from June 2025. The unadjusted Live Register total stood at 185,627 people for July 2025, of which 52.0% were male and 73.0% were Irish.

The 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in July 2025 at 44,446 people or 23.9% of the total.
The counties that recorded the largest percentage increases in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to July 2025 were Dublin (+5.6%) and Kildare (+2.8%), while the largest decreases were in Kerry (-13.7%) and Clare (-9.5%).
In July 2025 there were 129,347 people on the Live Register for less than one year, which was 7,238 more people (+5.6%) than in July 2024.
