The local community turned out in great numbers last Thursday for a quiz night held in Mo Chara in support of the St. Brides Mothers & Others football team’s upcoming trip to New York.

The event, which was part of a series of fundraisers, was organised to help the Knockbridge-based team cover costs such as Blitz registration fees and transport costs in New York as they prepare to represent County Louth at the New York GAA Blitz this October.

The selection is a proud moment for the team and the wider community, as it marks a rare opportunity for a local group to take part in such a high-profile international event.

Thursday's quiz night proved a massive success, with locals packing into Mo Chara to show their support. The night was filled with fun, friendly competition, and a great sense of community spirit.

A special word of thanks goes to Pat Breen, who served as quizmaster on the night. Pat, a former player for St. Brides GAA himself, kept the crowd entertained while challenging them with a mix of tricky and light-hearted questions.

Organisers also expressed deep gratitude to the many businesses and individuals who donated spot prizes for the raffle, helping to boost funds and make the evening even more enjoyable.

“This was a fantastic night for our club and for Knockbridge,” said a spokesperson for the Mothers & Others team.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.”

More fundraising events are planned in the coming weeks. People are encouraged to follow the St. Brides Mothers & Others Facebook page HERE for updates and to continue showing their support as the team gets ready to fly the flag for Louth in New York.
