Louth sees increase in house completions in second quarter of this year
Louth has seen an increase in the number of house completions in the county in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, in terms of both apartments and houses, according to the latest figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
278 houses were completed in the second quarter (Q2) of this year, as well as 188 in the first quarter (Q1), giving a total of 466 houses in the first half of this year. This is an increase on the 363 houses completed in Louth in the first half of last year, when 167 houses were completed in Q1 and 196 in Q2. It is down on the second half of 2024 however, when 558 houses were completed, with 269 houses completed in the third quarter (Q3) and 289 in the final quarter (Q4).
The latest figures from the CSO show that 419 homes were completed in Louth in Q1 of this year. 253 were scheme houses; 25 were one off houses; and 141 were apartments. It is the highest number of apartments completed in a single quarter in Louth since at least 2011, according to the CSO figures.
Nationally, there were 9,214 new dwelling completions in Q2 of 2025, a rise of 35% on the same three months of 2024. Apartment completions in Q2 2025 stood at 3,053, more than double the number of completions in Q2 2024.

There were 4,643 scheme dwelling completions in Q2 2025, an increase of 17% from Q2 2024. The number of single dwellings completed in Q2 2025 was 1,518, up 13% from Q2 2024.
More than half of completions (50%) were scheme dwellings, 33% were apartments, and 17% were single dwellings. There was a rise of 23% in seasonally adjusted new dwelling completions from Q1 2025 to Q2 2025.
