Status Orange Weather Warning for County Louth

Louth County Council is advising the public to take extreme care after Met Éireann issued a Status Orange rain and thunderstorm warning for County Louth, in effect from midnight to 2pm today, Monday, 21st July.

Persistent and heavy rain, with a risk of thunderstorms, is forecast.

Widespread surface flooding, very difficult travelling conditions, lightning damage and very poor visibility expected.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution, avoid flooded roads and footpaths, and allow extra time for travel.

Emergency services and Louth County Council crews are on standby.

Louth County Council’s Severe Weather Action Team convened on Sunday evening and will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as necessary.
