Cllr Dolores Minogue with Tánaiste Simon Harris
Cllr Dolores Minogue has hailed what she said was a productive meeting on Wednesday, with Tánaiste Simon Harris at Government Buildings, raising what she says are "several key issues for Ardee and Mid-Louth", including the Ardee Bypass, Ardee Castle, IPAS accommodation, and other local priorities.
On the planned Ardee Bypass, Cllr Minogue said that "I once again highlighted the serious impact the ongoing delay is having on Ardee town, especially for residents on Main Street and for local businesses. While the matter is still before the courts, I continue to press the Government to deliver this vital piece of infrastructure."
Welcoming progress on the planned reopening of Ardee Castle, Cllr Minogue said that "the tender process for appointing the main contractor has now closed. The project, part-funded through the Fáilte Ireland Regeneration Development Fund, is awaiting final approval from the Department of Rural and Community Development to allow works to commence. The reopening of Ardee Castle has huge potential for local tourism and business."

Cllr Minogue also raised the matter of IPAS accommodation, saying that she "raised concerns around the management and operation of IPAS centres. I stressed the importance of clear communication and proper consultation with local communities, along with the need for adequate supports for both residents and host communities to ensure these centres operate fairly and safely."
Cllr Minogue added that she "also took the opportunity to mention the fantastic recent Louth victory. I reminded the Tánaiste that Dermot O’Brien was captain of the Louth 1957 All-Ireland winning team, with his family still living in Ardee, and that Patsy Coleman who lives in Ardee and enjoyed the game immensely, was vice-captain. The Tánaiste promised a visit soon, and I hope to arrange a visit with the cup to meet with the families of both the 1957 and 2025 teams to celebrate this special moment for Louth GAA and for our town."
The Fine Gael councillor says she also discussed housing, roads, health services, and other key issues facing Ardee and the wider Louth area, with An Tánaiste, adding that she "will continue to work hard to ensure that the voice of our community is heard at the highest levels."
