New 50km/h speed limit hits North Louth road

The Council are urging people to drive safely and follow the posted limits during this important infrastructure project

Louth County Council is introducing a temporary speed limit on a section of the R173 in Cornamucklagh, Omeath, to support the construction of the Narrow Water Bridge.

From Monday, 26th May 2025, a reduced speed limit of 50km/h will be in place along a stretch of the R173.

This lower speed limit is being put in place for safety reasons while work on the bridge is ongoing.

The reduced speed zone will run from:

  • Start point: Easting 711905 / Northing 819265
  • End point: Easting 712581 / Northing 818498

This temporary speed limit will stay in effect until 25th May 2026.

The Council are urging people to drive safely and follow the posted limits during this important infrastructure project.
