Planning extension sought for Louth housing development

An extension of duration is being sought for planning permission granted by Louth County Council in 2019, and again in 2020 following an appeal to An Bord Pleanála, for 51 homes in Castlebellingham, and which was subsequently approved for 18 of the homes to be replaced by 40 apartments/duplex units in 2021.

O'Hanlon & Farrell Contracts Limited applied this month to the local authority for the extension of duration of the planning permission.

Peadar McCaghey was granted planning permission in 2019 for the development at the Dublin Road (R132), Castlebellingham, which comprised 51 dwellings in terraced, semi-detached and detached format and ranging in height from one-two storeys.
The decision was appealed in 2019 by Verona Faulkner, with An Bord Pleanála granting planning permission with revised conditions in 2020.

In 2021 Mr McCaghey was granted planning permission for the replacement of 18 of the two storey semi-detached and terraced dwellings, with 40 dwellings in apartment/ duplex form accommodated in five, three storey buildings, each consisting of four ground floor apartments and four duplex dwellings over first/second floor levels.

The 2021 application also provided for consequential alterations to the site layout plan including public and communal open spaces, bin storage, car parking and associated site development works.

Bellingham Manor Limited applied to Louth County Council at the beginning of February this year, for an extension of duration for the planning permission granted to Mr McCaghey. Louth County Council made the decision to refuse the extension of duration on 20 March.
