This April marks a special milestone for the An Táin Arts Centre Monthly Book Club as the Louth group celebrates five years of bringing readers together.
Launched in April 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the club was created as a way to stay connected with audiences and nurture a sense of community through literature during uncertain times.
Since then, it has grown steadily, with over 300 subscribers and an enthusiastic group of around 20 people meeting each month at Roe River Books in Dundalk. Hosted by An Táin Arts Centre Director Paul Hayes and generously facilitated by Roe River Books’ Tom Muckian, the club has become a vibrant hub for conversation, connection, and a shared love of books.
This month’s featured read is Prophet Song by Paul Lynch, a gripping and timely novel set in an Ireland descending into chaos. "I picked this one out myself after reading it last year,” says Hayes. “The power of this book blew me away, and I think members of our book club are going to be astounded by Lynch’s novel."
The next An Táin Arts Centre Book Club gathering takes place on Thursday 24th April at 8pm in Roe River Books. All are welcome. To find this book or any other title, contact your local county library or email info@roeriverbooks.ie – Tom will be happy to help.
Here’s to five more years of great stories and even greater conversations.
