ASL Dundalk students attend 'very important event' with newcomers encouraged

ASL Dundalk breakfast event

In Dundalk there was a very special gathering for ALS Dundalk students that took place on Tuesday last.

Students and their tutors from ALS Dundalk visited the VTOS/BTEI in Chapel Street to have a breakfast with the learners from these courses.

This provided a great opportunity to mix with their peers who had moved onto higher level courses.

Kinga Byrne the ALO for Dundalk said “this is a very important event in our calendar for the year as it shows our learners that they are part of a national commitment to learning. It also allows them to see the progression routes available to them in a very tangible way by visiting the building where the Level 3,4 and 5 QQI courses are offered. Change of location can be an anxious time for learners but this informal opportunity allows them to see for themselves progression at first hand.”

The staff from the various courses were on hand to answer any questions learners had.

The VTOS Co -Ordinator Gareth Savage gave a short talk to some learners who will be ready to progress from ALS soon, so that they have all the information they need.

Shan Dillon and Ann Fallon from the Adult Guidance Service were also on hand to see individual learners and make guidance appointments.

Shan said, “I was delighted to see the learners from the ALS coming to the event and spoke to several to provide progression information. We welcome any learners who would like to make appointments for information to call us on the number below.”

If you are interested in part time or full time courses in further education, please contact Shan Dillon at sdillon@lmetb.ie or 086 0676652.
