A funding allocation of €42,500 was announced today by Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O’Sullivan, TD, for a landmark building in north Louth as part of this year’s Historic Structures Fund.
The funding has been allocated to Carlingford Library at Newry Street in Carlingford, for repairs to seven arched steel windows to bring part of this local authority library back into use by the public.
It is part of a €3.5 million package awarded to 28 projects throughout the country to help repair and protect landmark buildings.
The news was welcomed by Louth Fianna Fáil TD, Erin McGreehan, who said that "Carlingford Library is an important historical building in North Louth, and its preservation and protection is most welcome to my constituents and I. This library has served the community for decades."
