Dundalk saw a fall in robbery, extortion and hijacking offences last year, according to the latest figures from the CSO
There was a fall last year in the number of robbery, extortion and hijacking offences recorded at Dundalk Garda Station and other parts of Louth, compared to 2023, according to the latest figures released today by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
In the CSO release, Recorded Crime Q4 2024, it shows that 26 robbery, extortion and hijacking offences were recorded at Dundalk Garda Station in 2024, down from 30 in 2023 and representing a fall of 13%. A fall was also seen in Carlingford with no offences recorded last year, down from three in 2023, and also in Blackrock, with one offence recorded in 2024, compared to two in 2023.
A fall was also seen in Drogheda, with 41 offences recorded last year, compared to 47 in 2023, but a rise was seen in both Ardee and Dunleer. Six incidents were recorded in Ardee last year, compared to two in 2023, and three recorded in Dunleer last year, up from zero in 2023.
Nationally, recorded crime incidents of robbery, extortion & hijacking offences were down by 10% or 265 to 2,353 incidents over the year.
