Cllr Sionainn McCann raised the matter at the Louth County Council March meeting
Cllr Síonainn McCann has expressed concerns at the number of people that is presently on Louth County Council's housing transfer list, and has voiced fears that there is "a lack of urgency" in reducing the number.
The Sinn Féin councillor raised the matter at the Louth County Council March meeting. In comments to the Dundalk Democrat following the meeting, Cllr McCann explained that as it currently stands, there are 322 applicants ion the list "and that number is growing".
Cllr McCann said, “on the face of it, this number should be reduced but there seems to be a lack of urgency around around this list.”

The Dundalk South councillor pointed out that, “people on this list are already housed, but they may need to downsize due to age or health and on the other side, there are people looking to increase from a two-bed to a three-bed due to overcrowding.
"There are people who are attempting to organise these transfers themselves but not many are successful due to an apparent lack of policy around transfers. This is something that I am going to pursue because I feel the list could be reduced.”
