Women’s Aid Dundalk held a dancing event last Wednesday, March 19 at the Market Square in Dundalk held a dancing event as part of the annual One Billion Rising event to fight against violence against woman and children in Ireland and across the world.
The One Billion rising campaign began in 2013 and aims to bring woman together to rise up against gender-based violence that happens to one billion woman at least once in their lives.
The aim of the Dundalk event was to create a vibrant celebration of dance, uniting various local community groups.
Women’s Aid Dundalk took to social media last week following the event, to thank all those who took part and attended the event, saying: “Special thanks to Suzanne Stafford at The House in Coxes for bringing along her wonderful little dancers to lead the event.
“Dun Dealgan National, students from O'Fiaich Secondary School, Dundalk Institute of Technology, pupils from The Grammar and finally transition year students from St Louis Secondary School, who also treated us to a dance the featured in their recent musical.
“To Town Talk for broadcasting the event live, Louth County Council for permission to use the Market Square and Erin McGreehan TD for Louth for coming along to show her support.
