Many past colleagues, friends and family took to RIP.ie to share their condolences.
Tributes have come flooding in for Damien Agnew of Oakland Park, Dundalk, who died suddenly at home where he was surrounded by his heartbroken family.
Predeceased by his parents, Paddy and Jane and his sister-in-law Martina, Mr Agnew will be sadly missed by his loving and lifelong partner Chrissie Kelly, their daughter Kate and his son Padraig.
The Louth native is a grandfather to six grandchildren and much adored Grandad to Sophia and Paddy, brother of Miriam, Seamie, Ann, Paddy and Patsy, his nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, friends, good neighbours and his colleagues in An Post.

One former co-worker said, "Sincere and deepest condolences to Chrissie, Kate, Padraig and the entire members of the Agnew family on the very sad passing of Damien (beano). I had the pleasure of working with him for many years in An Post, always one for a joke and a bit of craic, he will never be forgotten by all his work colleagues in An Post, may his gentle soul now rest in eternal peace. Amen"
A friend commented, "Our sincere condolences to Patsy, Christine and all the Agnew family on the sad loss of your beloved Damien.. we have many memories of Damien with all that wit and humour along with the unbelievable stories....rest in peace dear Damien."
Another said, "Rest in Peace Beano- thank you for all the memories growing up and all the laughs we had together in Macs. Chrissie, Kate, Padraig, Sophia & Paddy I’m so sorry for your loss. Beano had a heart of gold and loved you all dearly. He was a gentleman. We have lost a true family friend and we will never forget him. Have a drink with Nora up there. RIP."
Damien will be reposing in the Eternity Room of Quinn’s Funeral Homes, Dundalk today (Thursday, March 20) until 6:30pm.
The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 21, in St Nicholas’ Church at 11am, followed by cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6.
