Nina Carberry, MEP, visited the Kilcurry Community Resource Centre on Saturday, March 1st, as the guest speaker at the St. Brigid's lunch organized by Louth councillor John Reilly to commemorate Faughart as the birthplace of St. Brigid. Over 100 senior citizens from the Faughart parish attended the lunch to celebrate St. Brigid, an inspiring local woman who helped spread Christianity over 1,500 years ago.
Nina spoke about the empowering spirit of St. Brigid and how it continues to resonate today, highlighting the rich history of Faughart as a site of early Christianity. The MEP also used her speech to emphasize the importance of unity across Europe during these uncertain times.
Catering for the event was provided by Grainne and Mary McArdle, while entertainment was offered by Valerie Campbell and Anne Marie Douglas, along with local musicians Scale Force, who delivered a wonderful selection of traditional music. Paula Butterly, TD, and Councillor Sean Kelly assisted with serving dinners to the local community.
