Cllr John Reilly has welcomed correspondence from the Revenue Commisioners, in relation to his recent motion at the January Louth County Council meeting, asking for Revenue to reopen the office in Dundalk for in-person appointments on a limited basis.

Cllr Reilly said that the Revenue Commisioners has advised that it provides in-person appointments to members of the public in Dundalk Citizens Information Centre on the third Friday of each month from 2-4pm, but added that it is also important to note that this service is by appointment only.

During these appointments, the Fine Gael councillor was advised, Revenue staff will assist members of the public with completing forms and addressing any queries they may have. “As someone who works closely with people of all ages, I was surprised to learn that this service already existed, but it had not been adequately promoted”, Cllr Reilly commented.

"This lack of awareness, especially among older adults, is due to insufficient age-friendly advertising. I will be writing back to the Revenue Commissioners requesting additional advertisement of this service in the Revenue offices in Dundalk. I am conscious that the Revenue commissioners need to make this lengthy process more age and disability friendly.”

Cllr Reilly continued, “I have also been in contact with Gerard Murphy, the Director of Services in Louth County Council, requesting for this information to be displayed on application forms for the Housing Adaptation Grant.

“For those wishing to make an appointment, the Revenue Commissioners have provided the following contact numbers: 0429426311 and 0818075950.

“I encourage anyone who may need extra assistance to take advantage of this service by booking an appointment.”
The Dundalk-Carlingford councillor added, “I remain committed to ensuring that public services are accessible to everyone in our community, and I will continue to work to improve access to essential services like these.”
