Dundalk dental clinic passes HIQA inspection with flying colours

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) recently completed an inspection of the HSE Dental Clinic at Louth Healthcare Unit in Dundalk  assessing compliance with regulations governing medical exposure to ionising radiation.

According to the HIQA report, the clinic met all regulatory requirements and was found to be fully compliant in all assessed areas. Governance structures and oversight mechanisms were in place, with a designated Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) ensuring adherence to national safety standards.

The clinic was judged compliant in several key areas. The report identified areas of good practice, particularly in radiation safety measures, staff training, and quality assurance. The clinic was found to have established effective procedures for compliance with national and European health and safety regulations.

The HIQA inspector concluded that systems were in place to ensure the safe and effective use of medical radiological exposures at the facility. The report provides assurance that the clinic is operating within the required standards, with a focus on patient safety and regulatory compliance.
