Louth County Council has said that An Garda Síochána has been notified after IT equipment went missing from its offices in Dundalk earlier this month.

In a statement today, the local authority said: “Louth County Council confirms that on 9th January 2025, it made a report to An Garda Síochána regarding missing IT equipment from its main office at the Millennium Centre, Dundalk. The missing equipment was identified as part of routine internal audit procedures.”

The statement contiued: “The equipment, which was part of the normal working inventory of Louth County Council, and in stock for replacement purposes and for new employees, was unused and did not contain any personal or organisational data. There are no GDPR issues.

“As the matter has been referred to An Garda Síochána, it is not appropriate to comment further, or to speculate, pending an investigation, to which the local authority will provide its full support and co-operation.
