Dundalk Community Training Centre learners awarded certificates

Dundalk Community Training Centre learners receiving their certificates

Dundalk Community Training Centre (DKCTC), an LMETB funded Training Centre located on Mulholland Avenue, Dundalk, said it would like to congratulate some of their learners who have recently achieved certificates in VTCT Level 1 & 2 in Hairdressing, Major QQI Level 3 & 4 awards in Employment Skills & General Learning, Handling, Food Safety, Safe Pass, Forklift Driving and Leadership.

The DKCTC learners have worked hard over the past year completing different modules which include: Health Related Fitness, Food & Nutrition, Woodwork, Information Technology, Art and Design, Communications, Career development, Work Experience, Customer Service, Health and safety, Personal Development, Maths, Plating and Twisting Hair, Washing and blow-drying hair, Colouring Hair, and Teamwork.

The DKCTC Centre aims to support learners to develop the relevant knowledge, skills and abilities and a broad range of personal skills which enable personal development and active citizenship.

Learners have the opportunity to design and implement action plans to assist their chosen career path.

Throughout the programme learners will be given structured opportunities to gain greater knowledge of self and how to interact positively and effectively with others, a spokesperson said.

The Centre provides various QQI Levels (2, 3, and 4) as well as VTCT Level 1 and 2 in Hairdressing, targeting young people between the ages of 16 to 21 years.

Key courses include:
- QQI Level 2,3 & 4 Employability Skills These courses provide vocational training opportunities, learning supports and project-based learning to raise the competency levels of unemployed young people, developing their capacity to progress to further education, training, and employment.

- VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing This course gives learners who would like to work in the beauty/ hairdressing industry an introduction into the practical skills, knowledge required and have an opportunity to gain saloon experience.

- Additional certificates offered by the centre are Manual Handling, Safe Pass. Forklift Driving, and Food Safety, Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

Upon completing these courses, learners are equipped to pursue apprenticeships, employment, or continue further education.
