There was a rise in the number of people signing on the Live Register across Louth in December, according to the latest figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

3,192 people signed on the Live Register in Dundalk in December 2024, up 70 on the 3,122 who signed on the town in November. While this is a 2.2% monthly increase in the number of people signing on, it is still lower 229 lower than the 3,421 people who signed on in Dundalk in December 2023.

In Ardee, 718 people signed on in December, up 45 or 6.7% on the 673 who signed on in November 2024. Similar to Dundalk however, the number of people who signed on in December 2024 in Ardee is still lower than the 746 who signed on a year earlier in December 2023.

3,026 people signed on in Drogheda in December 2024, up 33 or 1.1% on the 2,993 who signed on in November 2024. It is still 252 (7.7%) lower however, than the 3,278 who signed on in Drogheda in December 2023.

It should be noted that with effect from Monday 9th September 2024, Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (which included people arriving in Ireland from Ukraine) living in designated state-provided serviced accommodation are no longer entitled to social assistance payments.

199 Accommodation Centres have been designated as Designated Accommodation Centres (DACs) nationally. Beneficiaries of the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive (TPD)  living in an accommodation that has since been designated a Designated Accommodation Centre no longer qualify for Jobseeker’s Allowance and thus are no longer enumerated on the Live Register.
