Marking twenty years in business, the team at Specsavers Dundalk are celebrating their milestone birthday with an in-store celebration this weekend.

Customers are being invited into the store at Market Square, Dundalk, on Saturday 16 November for a birthday celebration with fun and refreshments throughout the day. Customers will also be treated to a raffle with exciting prizes up for grabs. Sight tests will also be available at a reduced price of €20 on the day.

Since opening with just seven staff members in 2004, the directors at Specsavers Dundalk say they are delighted to have grown to a team of 48 local staff, including expert optometrists and audiologists. Three of the original staff are still working in the store since the doors opened, Martina Kelly, Gaven Oliver and Christina Myles.

A spokesperson said: "The optical and audiology teams proudly serve the local community and are always looking to grow and improve their business, ensuring they provide the best possible service, support, and advice to their local and loyal customers.

"After an expansion in 2022 saw the store double in the size, Specsavers Dundalk now boast five dedicated optical testing rooms and two audiology rooms, overseen by a team of eight optometrists and three audiologists. From routine eye examinations to contact lens fittings and hearing tests, Specsavers Dundalk can provide all aspects of professional eye and ear care."

Speaking ahead of the celebrations, Ophthalmic Director Martina Kelly said: “We are delighted to have been located here in the heart of the community for the last twenty years, providing the local people of Dundalk with the best technology in eye care and audiology. The expertise of our colleagues, coupled with the technology available to them, makes Specsavers Dundalk a great choice for optics and audiology services.’’

Specsavers Dundalk is a locally owned and run business, where supporting local clubs and charities is a key part of the store’s culture. Aside from their sponsorship with the local GAA club, Clan na Gael, they are also dedicated to raising money and awareness all year round for causes including Crumlin Children’s hospital, SOSAD, Irish Cancer Society and the North East Down Syndrome Centre.

The day of celebrations coincides with the local Dundalk Christmas market, taking place on the doorstep of the store, offering customers a fun-filled day in the town.
