Plans are underway for a solar farm in mid-Louth situated on approximately 181 ha (447.3 acres) that would have an export capacity of approximately 95MW.
Regnum Renewables Developments Ltd (Regnum), a wholly owned Irish company, is planning the development, to be known as Knockdinnin Solar Farm, located within the townlands of Mooremount, Knockatober, Painestown, Dromin, Knockdinnin, Ballymageragh and Cangy. The proposed project would contain solar panels, ground-mounted frames, inverters, a construction compound, internal access tracks, underground cabling, an on-site substation and ancillary infrastructure.
Regnum says that extensive archaeological, ecological, noise and visual impact assessments have been completed as part of the preparation of the planning application, and that a traffic management plan will also be developed to accompany the planning application. It adds that the on-site grid connection will be subject to a separate planning application to An Bord Pleanala.
Regnum also says that if the solar farm is granted planning permission, it is committed to setting up a community benefit package to support the local community, and that it will collaborate closely with the community to customise this financial support package, placing local individuals at the forefront of decision-making regarding its implementation and impact.
The company further adds that the project, which would see up to 100 jobs supported during construction, has attracted positive engagement from private landowners.
