On Sunday, St. Helena's Park in Dundalk buzzed with excitement as Louth Disability Cycling Club hosted its highly anticipated 'Try a Bike Day' for special needs kids.

The event, which aimed to promote inclusivity and provide a fun cycling experience for children of all abilities, was a resounding success.

Families from across the community gathered at the park alongside volunteers and representatives from SNAP Teens Kids, Roche Emmets and Variety Ireland, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Children eagerly lined up to test out the club's range of state-of-the-art specialised special needs trikes, trishaws, and bikes, with parents cheering them on every step of the way.

Volunteers, sporting bright smiles and endless enthusiasm, were on hand throughout the day to provide guidance and support to the young cyclists.

From gentle spins around the park to more adventurous rides, every child had the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of cycling in a safe and supportive environment.

The event not only provided a memorable day out for the children but also highlighted the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in recreational activities.

By bringing together families, volunteers, and organisations dedicated to supporting children with disabilities, Louth Disability Cycling Club showcased the power of community and collaboration in creating meaningful experiences for all.

The club would like to give special thanks to the Last Lap Cafe for providing refreshments on the day and to Councillor Mave Yore and Ruairí Ó Murchú TD for their continued support.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer with the club or would like to avail of the use of the bikes can contact: 087 770 0037 or message the club via their Facebook page at 'Louth Disability Cycling Club'
