Bellingham Castle was named Castle Wedding Venue of the Year

There was great success for the county at the recent Weddingsuppliers.ie Awards, took place on the 6th of February at the Killashee House Hotel.

Four local businesses won in the best in category award with another winning a highly commended in their category.

Local music ensemble D-Strings won Entertainment act of the Year for the second year straight. 

With a string quartet, a string trio and an electric violin option, D-Strings have significantly branched out since they began over 15 years ago covering ceremonies, drinks receptions, meals and DJ live sets at weddings and events across Ireland and Europe.

The musicians have been asked to play alongside some of the world’s leading artists and bands, and have performed at some of the top celebrity weddings in Europe in the last decade. 

Upon winning the award, the group said: “We are just delighted to win at the 2nd annual Wedding Suppliers.ie awards. 

“Such a tough category with over 20 amazing contents shortlisted in the final, it was an honour just to get that far. 

“Winning has just been incredible, and for a second year running!! A well earned reward for the team. 

“Thank you to each person who voted for us, wished us good luck and congratulated us. 

“Looking forward to another exciting year of weddings and events in 2024!”

Local business Liutas Pictures, run by Liutauras Kepenis was also crowned Videographer of the year.

Expressing his delight at winning the award, Liutauras said:

“Being recognized among the top contenders is not only a personal achievement but a testament to the dedication poured into capturing timeless wedding moments.

“As a local wedding videographer based in Dundalk, my journey has been about weaving unique narratives for couples. 

“This nomination amplifies the commitment to delivering exceptional wedding videography services.

“The competition was fierce, but standing out among the finalists is a remarkable milestone. 

“It underscores the passion for creating visual stories that resonate with couples and capture the essence of their special day.

“The Weddingsuppliers Awards 2024 serve as a benchmark for excellence in the wedding industry, and it’s an honour to be acknowledged among the best. 

“This nomination fuels the drive to continue pushing creative boundaries and delivering unparalleled videography experiences.

“A heartfelt thank you to Weddingsuppliers for organising this event and to everyone who has supported Liutas Pictures on this incredible journey. 

“Here’s to more captivating wedding stories and cherished moments in the years to come!”

Local businesswoman Dearbháile Sheils was also recognised on the night with her business Weddings By Dearbhaile awarded a highly commended recognition in the Wedding Planner of the Year category.

She said: “I’m absolutely delighted to come away with this award at my first ever Wedding Awards Ceremony! Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote - it means the world to me!”

Local venues Darver Castle and Bellingham Castle also received awards, with Darver named Best Civil Ceremony venue and Bellingham Castle named Castle Wedding Venue of the Year.

The ceremony saw a record-breaking attendance of 450 wedding professionals. The night was a glittering celebration of excellence in the field and was hosted by the dynamic duo of Keith Barry, the renowned Mentalist, and Sara Kennedy from the Irish Wedding Blog.

The entertainment lineup included performances from acclaimed artists such as Mundy and Mickey Joe Harte, adding an extra touch of glamour and excitement to the evening.

Cathal Molloy, the man behind Weddingsuppliers.ie, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the wedding community.
