Dundalk candidate announced for Ireland's newest political party

Barry Kieran

Entrepreneur Barry Kieran has officially launched his candidacy for one of Ireland’s newest parties, Independent Ireland, in the Dundalk South Local Electoral Area (LEA) in the forthcoming local elections.

Describing himself as having a decade of experience in business and a strong commitment to community service, Kieran says he aims to bring fresh perspectives and practical solutions to local governance.

"As an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience, I've firsthand seen the challenges small businesses face, driving my commitment to support them and advocate for common-sense policies," said Kieran.

"My disillusionment with current government policies, especially concerning immigration, housing, and healthcare, has deepened my resolve to seek change," added Kieran.

Since 2018, Kieran has been actively involved in supporting children with additional needs and says  urgent reforms are needed in Ireland's public service sectors.

"This passion is mirrored in my work since 2018 with children with additional needs, exposing me to the urgent reforms needed in our public service sectors," he said.

"Choosing to run with Independent Ireland aligns with my belief in integrity, accountability, and practical governance," he concluded.

Party Leader Michael Collins expressed support for Mr Kieran's candidacy saying: . "Barry Kieran brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Independent Ireland.

“His commitment to supporting small businesses and advocating for practical governance makes him the perfect candidate for Dundalk South."

Michael Fitzmaurice TD commended Kieran's dedication to community service saying, "Barry Kieran's dedication to community service and his vision for change in Ireland make him an ideal candidate for Independent Ireland.

“I am confident that he will be a strong voice for Dundalk South LEA and I look forward to attending Barry's official launch in the coming weeks," said Fitzmaurice.
