It’s been a magical time at Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire Ardee with Christmas plays, a visit from Santa, a whole school Santa Stroll event, Christmas Carol singing and even a naughty elf or two!

Music, songs, glitzy costumes and dance filled the school hall all week as pupils performed in Christmas plays for their classmates and families.

“It’s great to be back in front of live audiences for our Christmas performances” said Deirdre Sweeney, Principal, “for the past two years we filmed our shows outdoors so it was a lot easier this year!” she continued.

“We were whisked away to the stable in Bethlehem and even to Santa’s workshop, and whether you’re a king, an angel or an elf you’re a shining star on our stage” said Mrs Sweeney. “It’s wonderful to see children enjoying themselves on stage and having the confidence to perform” she added.

The pupils also visited St. Joseph’s Hospital and Ardee Day Care Centre to sing carols and they also took part in the parish Carol Service. The young pupils also raised money €440 for Ardee St. Vincent de Paul.

The whole school got on the move for their annual Santa Stroll through Ardee.

They had 300 pupils on the move wearing Santa hats so they were a colourful sight as they sang and waved along the way! Just before the Christmas holidays Santa Claus visited every class and we can confirm that all the boys and girls in Scoil Mhuire na Trócaire are most definitely on the nice list!
