Omeath regeneration plans progress with appointment of design consultants

Plans for the regeneration of Omeath Village have progressed this week, following the announcement by Louth County Council of the appointment of BDP Ltd as the Architectural Lead Design Consultants for the Omeath Placemaking Scheme. 

Speaking about the project, Kevin McGann Landscape Architect from BDP said, ‘BDP are delighted to be involved in this exciting project that will bring an enhanced public realm to Omeath. We look forward to working with Louth County Council and the local community to deliver on the aspirations and objectives for the scheme.’

The project will regenerate the heart of the village with improvements to the public realm that will build on the huge tourist potential of the village with the Great Eastern Greenway running through its heart.  The planned works will enhance the experience of people visiting and living in the village with the increased prioritisation of pedestrians and traffic calming measures, thus creating a far more environmentally sustainable village.

The combination of these improvements and the greenway will create a highly attractive visiting experience for walkers and cyclists alike. This scheme will provide the opportunity for all to really enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area, and create opportunities for businesses in the village to cater for the anticipated increased numbers visiting the village to enjoy all that this unique location has to offer.
