Some traffic lights in Dundalk to be upgraded this year
Six or seven sets of traffic lights in Dundalk are to be upgraded this year, councillors were told at the Dundalk Municipal District March meeting.
Cllr Sean Kelly raised the matter of the upgrade of traffic lights in the town, with Senior Engineer Mark Johnston telling the meeting that there is funding available to upgrade six or hopefully seven sets of lights but added that it would take a number months before they would be installed.
Mr Johnston said that it was the Council's intention to work on traffic lights in Dundalk this year, with Drogheda being done last year and that €250,000 to €300,000 would be available in funding for this. Mr Johnston added that Active Travel funding would also be going towards traffic lights at the Inner Relief Road and the Garda Barracks in Dundalk.
