Go Fund Me page set up for Castleblaney crash victim Stephen Marron

A fundraising page has been set up to support the family of Castleblayney man Stephen Marron who died tragically recently.

Stephen Marron (47), who was sitting in a parked Skoda Octavia on Main Street in Castleblayney, died in the incident last week that also saw a Garda officer injured.

The Go Fund Me page has already raised half of its €5000 goal and hopes to help Mr Marron’s family cope with the costs of Christmas, as well as upcoming funeral and memorial costs. The page was set up by family friend April Finnegan.

On the fundraising page, Ms Finnegan paid tribute to Mr Marron, “Stephen was a very important part of the community of Castleblayney - a genuinely kind and loving gentleman, always willing to give a helping hand to those in need, volunteering with and promoting sport through local football club Blayney Rovers and a long history with local Hurling teams, spreading faith and prayer through his works in the church,  providing hot and wholesome dinners for those in need through Meals on Wheels - to name but a few of his local heroics.”

“No amount of money or gifts or well wishes will ever bring back our dear friend Stephen - but we hope through this fundraiser, we can give the people of Castleblayney an opportunity to show their appreciation and support for a man who changed the lives of so many local people.”

Ms Finnegan went on to say that “100% of the money donated will go to the family of Stephen Marron. This fundraiser has been commenced with the permission and consent of his family.”
