Woman charged over fatal Newry Rd collision

A second person has appeared in court charged in connection with a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the town 11 months ago. 

Eimear White (21) of Castlecarra, Riverstown, Co. Louth is accused of dangerous driving causing the death of Robert McLoughlin (29) on the R132 the old Newry Road, Dundalk on October 21st last year.

At Dundalk district court this afternoon (Wed) Garda Andy McGuill gave evidence of arresting the defendant this morning and subsequently charging her at 9.43am

The court heard the accused replied "No comment".

After he was told that the bail conditions had been agreed, Judge John Coughlan remanded the defendant on her own bond of €100 to the 17th of October for a book of evidence to be served.

A defence application for legal aid was also granted.

A 21 year old man from Faughart who was charged with the same alleged offence was remanded on bail to the same date next month when he appeared in court in July.
