Crackdown leads to massive increase in parking fines in Louth
211 fines have been issued to motorists in Louth since April of this year, for illegally parking in disabled parking bays in the county.
This is according to a report this morning by LMFM news.
According to the report, this is nine times the amount issued in the whole of 2017, when just 24 were issued in the county.
The crackdown is part of Operation Enable, an initiative carried out by An Garda Síochána, that was rolled out in Louth in April of this year.
The fines issued to motorists who have been found using disabled parking bays has also increased from €80 to €150, with those failing to pay being prosecuted in court.
