Dundalk youth theatre group inviting new talent
Local theatre group Making Alternative Drama (MAD YT) are inviting young people aged 12 to 21 to take part in their exciting drama programmes, theatre trips, festivals and residentials.
M.A.D YT is working with young people through drama and the creative arts providing professionally led weekly drama workshops and quality arts experiences.
The group is creating a fun and innovative approach to their drama programmes that are designed to have relevant themes which are young people-centered. They aim to challenge young people's thinking and attitude towards the arts. Their annual open day membership mirrors the community and seeks young people from all backgrounds.
According to founder Kwasie Boyce, the group had another successful year securing their own premises on Earl Street, conveniently in the heart of Dundalk town center.
Hosting their first one act festival and staging the dark comedy DNA by Dennis Kelly amongst the other great community projects they participated in including winning first place in this year St Patrick Day Parade.
"We are growing each year and taking more and more risks when it comes to the work we produce for stage but MADYT is more than drama, MADYT is where a young person comes and feels belonged, its where we focus on their personal and social development, we feel its just as important as the artistic development they receive.
"We thank Youth Theatre Ireland, Create Louth, LMETB local councilors, artist, businesses, youth organisations and the Dundalk community for supporting us and helping us elevate the young people of this community, added Kwasie."
An Open Day will be hosted in M.A.D Youth Theatre on Earl Street between Dealz and Magees Pharmacy through the Arches on Thursday 6 September 13th at 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
