John McGahon to contest Louth Selection Convention for Fine Gael

Dundalk Councillor John McGahon has announced that he will be contesting the Louth Selection Convention for Fine Gael on August 23rd following the announcement that Peter Fitzpatrick will be retiring at the next election.

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat today, Cllr. McGahon said "Peter has been a great TD for the people for Dundalk and County Louth for the past seven years. I have enjoyed every minute working alongside him as a Councillor. I'd like to wish him and his family all the best in whatever he intends to do next.

“I love representing my home town of Dundalk and I want to continue to do that at the highest possible level.

“Over the last four years I have worked extremely hard to represent my home town on Louth County Council as a dynamic and hard-working Councillor.

“I am looking forward to speaking to Fine Gael members across County Louth over the next two weeks about how we can hold onto the two Fine Gael seats here in Louth at the next General Election, whenever that may be.”
