Louth TD Declan Breathnach has described the incident at Haggardstown this morning, where a low loader struck the bridge, delaying rail services, as " a catastrophe waiting to happen".
The incident has caused delays to train services, with the 11.20 Connolly to Belfast train delayed as a result.
The Fianna Fáil TD tweeted his views on the incident, saying, "A near catastrophe but one waiting to happen where non compliance and lack of awareness by those driving high sided veichles.
"More action needed in Signage and alerting lor[lorry] drivers to obligations"
