Huge turnout at Dundalk Blood Donor Clinic

Irish Blood Transfusion Service

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) has expressed its thanks after 411 donors attended the recently held clinic in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, & Clan Na Gaels GAA Centre, Dundalk.

A breakdown of the total figures show that 48 first time donors and 29 former donors attended the clinic.

The IBTS say that approximately 3,000 Blood Donations are needed for over 1000 patients in Irish hospitals every week.

1 in 4 people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives. Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda required 2,711 units alone in 2017.

On behalf of all the patients in hospital who benefit from blood donor's generosity, Dundalk Blood Donor Clinic has expressed a heartfelt thank you, to all who attended or helped with the Dundalk Clinic in any way.
