Stocks on the rise for De La Salle boys

John Reel, Dylan McGrory, Oisin McCooey, David O’Connor and Liam Cafferty were the winners on the day.

Transition Year students from De La Salle College emerged victorious from the first ever Bank of Ireland Bond Trader event held at St Marys Marist College on Tuesday (March 6th).

The team of John Reel, Dylan McGrory, Oisin McCooey, David O’Connor and Liam Cafferty won the quiz which was competed among all the secondary schools in Dundalk.

Around 180 students from all seven secondary schools in Dundalk participated while business leaders and accountants from companies around town were on hand to offer their expertise during the event.

The event began with a 10-15 minute education piece before teams were then given a mix of assets, a live scenario and the ability to swap these assets to build their ideal portfolio.

A team of dealers then facilitated the trades for the participating teams. The events were highly interactive, just like the trading floor on the New York Stock Exchange. A team of scorers recorded who made and lost money after each round.

Pictured above are the winning team with David Dowling of Bank of Ireland Dundalk and Aine Mc Breen, De La Salle Business teacher.
