The Dundalk Democrat's front page story garners national attention

THE Dundalk Democrat's front page story about a Louth councillor's call for a statue or plaque of the late sports broadcaster Jimmy Magee has garnered national media attention.

The report by senior journalist Tamara O'Connell was discussed on the RTÉ Radio 1 programme Drivetime yesterday (Friday, November 24).

The story about the statue proposal caught the eye of Dave O'Connell from The Connaught Tribune who included it in the show's weekly round-up of regional newspapers.

Presented by John Murray, Drivetime is an information packed evening news magazine with all the stories of the day. It airs Monday to Friday from 4.30pm until 7pm.

Further details about the plan to honour the much-beloved Omeath man Jimmy Magee can be found in this week's edition of The Dundalk Democrat.
